The gameplay of the Luminous Arc titles falls along the lines of tactical RPGs such as Final Fantasy Tactics. Luminous Arc a is the second adventure in the hit strategy-RPG franchise. Nevertheless, Luminous Arc aims to take the classic gameplay of strategy role-playing games (SRPGs) and wrap it up in an anime style, complete with accompanying VO, a fully-animated hand-drawn. Fan service featuring the witches is common, such as Luminous Arc 2's "Engage" system, although it also serves to further their character development through socialization. While the witches are initially seen as malicious or at least dangerous entities, they are usually largely benevolent and merely protecting the world from malice, the true nature of which is revealed later. The protagonist is commonly a male knight, albeit one of little renown yet great potential. The Luminous Arc games (and their spiritual successor, Stella Glow), typically take place in a medieval fantasy setting and feature a plot based around elemental witches, female magic-wielders of great power who are recruited by the main character in order to save the world from peril. He later must ally with Hilda as well to prevent an even greater threat from destroying the world.Ĭommon elements Plot and themes 30 chapters, 30+ hours of gameplay The newest installment of the Luminous Arc story features new and returning characters. The story revolves around Alto, a young hero who joints the Regnant Knights along with his childhood friend Lisette, now a witch, in order to stop the Witch of Destruction, Hilda, by joining forces with the world's other witches, all of whom wield song-based magic powers. Luminous Arc 2 (DS) first released 18th Nov 2008. It was released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan by Sega on June 4, 2015, in North America by Atlus USA on November 17, 2015, and in Europe and Australia by NIS America on March 11, 2016. It did not do anything innovative, but for a budget title and the first game created by Imageepoch, it could have been a lot worse.A spiritual sequel to the Luminous Arc series, Stella Glow was the last game developed by Imageepoch prior to its bankruptcy. In conclusion, Luminous Arc is a functional game that you can beat in about 15 to 25 hours, depending on if you want to get all the intermissions. Use Leon throughout the game, he's like a cheat code. Also, the buffs were not of much use, but very few games make buffs useful so it gets a pass. The biggest problem I could say it had was that you couldn't move the camera in any way being on a 3D grid-like FF Tactics makes it very hard to see where you put your characters. The gameplay will not surprise you if you have played any other SRPGs. The intermissions after fights give them more personality that you will not see throughout the story and is a pleasant addition. The story has a lot of cliches that you would see in other games or animes, the characters are one-dimensional, but they are still somewhat endearing. A good experience for fans of the genre, with several changes on the gameplay, but a less interesting story than the original. Basic in every way, be it story or gameplay. Luminous Arc 2 is not the best SRPG on the Nintendo DS, but it fares well. Release Date, Trailers, News, Reviews, Guides, Gameplay and more for Luminous. I would call Luminous Arc a beginner's first SRPG. and its mission to increase greater diversity in media voices and media ownership. I knew going into this game that it won't be anything special and that’s what I got.
